If you’re navigating addiction, trauma, or emotional overwhelm—but life won’t pause for you to get help—you might be wondering… What is IOP?

An IOP, or Intensive Outpatient Program, is a structured treatment option that offers professional clinical support several times a week, without requiring an overnight stay. At Valiant Behavioral Health, our IOP is designed to help adults heal without leaving behind their jobs, families, or daily responsibilities.

What is an IOP?

An Intensive Outpatient Program is a level of care that falls between inpatient treatment and standard outpatient therapy. It provides more structure and intensity than weekly sessions, but with the flexibility to live at home and maintain a regular schedule.

At its core, an IOP combines evidence-based therapy, peer support, and personalized care planning—all while allowing clients to engage in their everyday lives. Valiant’s IOP in Simi Valley is especially ideal for individuals who need serious support but can’t step away from their careers or caregiving roles.

How Does Valiant’s IOP Work?

Our IOP meets either the day or in the evening for a session sometime between 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, three nights per week. This schedule gives clients access to high-impact therapy while still accommodating work, school, and family responsibilities.

Each participant receives a tailored care plan that may include:

  • Individual therapy for personal growth and trauma recovery
  • Group therapy for connection and accountability
  • Family support to improve relationships
  • Recovery coaching for lifestyle changes and relapse prevention
  • Case management for practical help and resources

Programs are grounded in trauma-informed, clinically sound care—delivered by a team of licensed professionals who understand the importance of treating the whole person.

Who Is an IOP Best For?

You don’t need to hit rock bottom to benefit from an IOP. This level of care is ideal for:

  • Professionals who need help without pausing their careers
  • Parents and caregivers seeking evening treatment
  • Individuals transitioning from inpatient care
  • People needing more than once-weekly therapy

IOP offers structure and support without the disruption of residential treatment.
